On October 7, a First Parish group carpooled into Roxbury to join a Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry tour of the trees of John Eliot Square. The Square was the site of the Roxbury town center after its founding in 1630. The group enjoyed a stroll around this historic district focused on the area’s agriculture and horticulture and learned how these molded the neighborhood over the years. The tour was led by historian Thomas Plant, whose deep connection to Roxbury came alive as he shared stories that have shaped his community.
