Whose land are we living on and how did we come to “own” it? How did the indigenous people who lived on this land for centuries before colonization steward the land and what can we learn from them? These are questions that Louise Dunlap asks in her powerful book, “Inherited Silence: Listening to the Land, Healing the Colonizer Mind.” They are questions without easy answers, inviting a deeper encounter with the lands we inhabit and the indigenous peoples who remain.
