This Sunday, January 19, 10:00 a.m., “MLK Sunday: A Legacy of Justice”
Alex Jensen
The story of Anne Hale and her dismissal as a school teacher is a controversy that marks Wayland in the 1950s. A member at First Parish, Anne was discovered to have been a prior member of the Communist Party, causing a public uproar and creating divisions across the town, as well as at First Parish. In honor of MLK Sunday, we’ll explore Anne’s story and what it might mean for us as Unitarian Universalists and justice-seekers. How might Anne’s story and legacy inform our future work for justice?
