This Sunday, Jan 14, 10:00 a.m., “But I Am A Good Person”
Rev. Deborah Bennett

In his letter from the Birmingham jail, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said he was “disappointed in the white moderate”. Even today this statement can leave many moderates and liberals sheepish. Most of us, no matter how we identify, like to be thought of as being a ‘good person’ that does good work in the pursuit of justice. We like to think that MLK would be proud of the anti-racist progress that has been made in our society in the last few decades. And yet, on this day before the nation celebrates the life and work of MLK, it is worth considering what Dr. King would have to say about the choices of us ‘good people’ today and whether we are on the right tract to transform our society into the Beloved Community of which he dreamed.
