On Sunday, April 26, 2015, an enthusiastic group of First Parishioners joined with other volunteers in a Work Day at the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry in Roxbury. After this fun and successful day, First Parish received the following letter:

On behalf of the UU Urban Ministry, I wish to extend a hearty thank you to the Wayland congregation for
coming to our campus on April 26 for a workday. We really appreciate all the hard work and planning
that went into the day. It paid off in a multitude of ways! The new steps are tremendous, the grounds look
clean and fresh for Spring, the driveway is in great shape, the compost bin in prime position, the supply
closet neatly organized, and the John Elliot Square Neighborhood clean and free of litter. In addition,
we loved having the opportunity to share lunch and the day with our neighbors from the Islamic Society
of Boston Community Center down the hill and I know they feel the same. We are already imagining
with them some next steps and hope to engage the Wayland congregation again in this effort toward
interfaith friendship and connection.

Please let everyone know how grateful we are!

Sincerely,

Rev. Rebecca Hinds
Director of Congregational and Volunteer Engagement
Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry

P.S. And THE GARDENS! They look fantastic and we are thrilled to have the growing season under
way. We couldn’t do it without you, Wayland!
