On two Sundays in November, First Parish shared half the total offering collected during Sunday services with organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community. On Nov. 5, half our collection went to OUT MetroWest, which builds community for LGBTQ+ youth. On Nov. 19, we shared half our offering with SpeakOUT Boston, the nation’s oldest LGBTQ+ speakers’ bureau. In addition, First Parish welcomed speakers from SpeakOUT Boston on two recent Sundays: In October, Dave Houle spoke to the congregation in celebration of National Coming Out Day. In November, Jenn Stephens and Jamie Blair, both transgender women, shared their stories and answered questions, in recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance, which honors the memory of transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
