First Parish is sharing its plate with one organization twice each month, or two social justice organizations once each. This ensures that everyone has the opportunity to generously support vital community organizations and causes.
On May 11, half of the Sunday offering will be donated to The Community Closet. This free resource for eligible residents of Concord and Carlisle was created by the Concord Carlisle Foundation, in partnership with the Trinitarian Congregational Church of Concord. Should you be cleaning your closets, the organization is currently accepting spring clothing only. New underwear and socks are always needed.
On May 18, half of the Sunday offering will be donated to Partakers, which works every day to reduce prison recidivism through essential educational opportunities and empowering mentorship relationships. People incarcerated in several Massachusetts’ prisons have the chance to take college courses and earn their degree. For many this may be their first formal higher education experience. Mentors also build an important trusting relationship that encourages and supports students as they go through the growth process of obtaining their degrees.
