On January 7 and 28, half the Sunday collection will be donated to the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry (UUUM), a non-sectarian, non-profit social justice organization that has its offices at the historic First Church in Roxbury — a Boston landmark. The UUUM works across race and place to dismantle racism and white supremacy culture and to advance racial, social, and economic justice.
First Parish is sharing its plate with one organization twice each month, or two similar organizations once each. This ensures that all have the opportunity to generously support these vital community organizations and causes. Beneficiaries of this policy to date include OUT Metrowest and SpeakOUT Boston – both supporting the LGBTQ+ community – and Family Promise Metrowest, which supports families facing homelessness.
