One Wild and Precious Life

We are deep in the “dog days” of summer now; basking in the sun’s warmth, relishing the earth’s natural beauty and the garden bounty this season brings. These summer days, like all of our days, often seem to slip by too quickly, like grains of sand between our fingers.  The fleeting days of summer echo the central question of Mary Oliver’s poem, The Summer Day: “What will you do with your one wild and precious life?” It is a question for the ages and also one for each moment.
