The Forgotten History of Slavery in Colonial Sudbury – Presentation and Book Signing, March 30, 2 p.m.
The little-known story of how Puritan settlers of Framingham, Sudbury, and Wayland held and sold enslaved Black people throughout the 17th and 18th centuries will be the topic of a free presentation on Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. in the First Parish in Wayland Meetinghouse.
Local historian and author Jane Sciacca will discuss Enslavement in the Puritan Village, her just-published book. Her new research, gleaned over several years reviewing previously overlooked public records, highlights for the first time the lives of men, women, and children held in bondage. Her talk will be followed by a book signing and reception.
