Rev. John O’Connor
As we look forward to celebrating National Coming Out Day on October 11th, we find ourselves, as a nation, in perilous times. In the LGBTQI+ family this is acutely true for our trans siblings. And in August, former Kentucky clerk Kim Davis petitioned the Supreme Court to overrule Obergefell v. Hodges, the case which granted marriage equality to same sex couples. Join Rev. John as he offers a personal reflection on the importance of letting ourselves be known. Pride is not just a weekend celebration. Our love is an act of resistance.
Rev. John O’Connor has been an active member of Arlington Street Church since 1990 and graduated from Harvard Divinity School in 2022. John then served as the Intern Minister at First Church in Belmont in the 2022 – 23 church year. John was ordained at Arlington Street Church on April 7, 2024 and currently serves there as the Community Minister for Good Works. Recently, John served as the guest preacher at the UU Meeting House of Provincetown while Rev. Kate Wilkinson was on sabbatical. Outside of church, John is an avid reader, and when time permits, he noodles around a bit on the piano. For the past 30 years, John has also owned and managed a residential real estate team in the greater Boston area.
