In December 1983 a Town Crier cartoonist made fun of a questionable decision by the town building inspector when he condemned the church for use during the height of the Christmas season. The church was doing a powder post beetle inspection of the steeple when it discovered that two vertical columns had been seriously weakened by water damage. Even though many people felt that the building was safe, we accepted the gracious invitation of the Sudbury church and held Christmas services for two Sundays in their building.
