First Parish in Wayland will host an Arts Wayland jazz performance on October 29 at 3 p.m. The Jason Yeager Quartet will present a dynamic program of lyrical originals, soulful blues, and inspired arrangements of pieces by Monk, Mingus, and more. Longtime New York City collaborators Jason Yeager (piano) and Randal Despommier (alto saxophone) join with two of Boston’s finest world-class musicians, Yoron Israel (drums) and Brad Barrett (bass). This event is part of Arts Wayland’s Jazz Series, under the direction of Neil Olmstead, Berklee College Professor.

Pianist Jason Yeager, Berklee professor, has performed across five continents at storied venues including Carnegie Hall, Birdland Jazz Club, and the Blue Note.

Randal Despommier, a multi-genre musician from New Orleans, released his first album in 2021, featuring his new quartet and Grammy-winning bassist Jimmy Haslip as guest artist and co-producer.

Drummer Yoron Israel is a highly-sought musician whose New Dreams recording with his group Trio Plus has received rave reviews. He has toured with some of the most prolific artists, including Sonny Rollins, Abbey Lincoln, and Tony Bennett.

Bassist Brad Bennett has performed with jazz luminaries such as Jason Moran, Tyshawn Sorey, and Sheila Jordan.

Tickets ($15) are available at Arts Wayland or may be purchased at the door before the performance. Free admission to students through grade 12 (students through grade 8 should be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult).
