In September, selections of John Thompson’s artwork will be displayed in the Narthex. John is an accomplished painter and printmaker whose work is displayed in the First Parish Commons and in the homes of many First Parish friends and members.
In the broader world, John’s work has been exhibited in Boston, Charleston, New York, Palm Beach, Beijing, and in many other locations. He has taught at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Framingham State University, The Art and Innovation Center in Weston, the Washington Art Association in Washington, CT, and many other workshops around the country.
Boston’s prestigious Child’s Gallery describes John’s work as follows: “Thompson’s multilayered prints and paintings evoke the fleeting beauty of small moments in nature: the play of light on leafy branches, the rustle of wind through grass, the ripple of raindrops across a pond. Thompson uses multiple printmaking techniques to orchestrate his expressive prints, building and layering overlapping elements. Each monoprint is a unique work of art, a harmonious symphony of pattern, texture, color, and light. For Thompson, a love of materials and willingness to experiment are paramount.”
